Approximately seven years ago, Jakob Saalfrank commuted daily to work from a town 20 kilometers from the Austrian city of Graz. It took an average of one hour by public transport. From his position at a logistics company specializing in automated warehouses, he asked himself: how can I solve the mobility problem? The business idea was to develop a "flying" vehicle that would move on land and air and act as a support for logistics companies. At just under 30 years old, in 2021, he moved to Barcelona, ​​where he had spent a decade earlier as a student, attracted by the startup ecosystem. Now, almost four years later, Saalfrank has reaped the rewards, and Grasshopper Air Mobility, of which he is the founder and CEO, is in the process of seeking customers and investors and already has a prototype in operation. Since its presence at the Logistics 4.0 Incubator of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB), it has found the space to test mobility solutions to improve the efficiency of logistics deliveries.Â
