Grasshopper Air Mobility completes Draper University's Hero Training in Silicon Valley

San Mateo, California, 22 May 2026. Jakob Saalfrank, Founder and CEO of Grasshopper Air Mobility, has completed Hero Training, the five-week programme of Draper University in San Mateo, the Silicon Valley school founded by venture capitalist Tim Draper. The spring 2026 session, the programme’s 32nd cohort, ran from 20 April to 22 May.

Hero Training is an intensive, immersive programme in which the founders live and work together on the Draper University campus. Grasshopper was one of 60 startups from 19 countries in this cohort, many of them building frontier technology in robotics, space, energy and biotech.

Jakob Saalfrank presented Grasshopper directly to Tim Draper twice. The public Demo Day took place on 20 May, when the 60 companies of the cohort presented to Tim Draper and investors. The programme also included Survival Week, five days of leadership-based survival training outdoors in California, led by former Marines.
